Lightning DEDB™
Fast Path DEDB database availability affects
mission-critical, high-volume applications. By optimizing independent
overflow (IOVF) free-space searches, Lightning DEDB minimizes the
need for performance-related reorganizations of Fast Path DEDB databases,
improving database availability, assuring consistent high-performance,
and reducing database outages.
Lightning DEDB runs autonomously, requiring no
intervention. It improves IOVF free-space search operations by looking
for the most likely space maps (SMAPs) to contain free space, ignoring
full SMAPs and reducing the I/O time required for the search. By
using SMAPs more efficiently, Lightning DEDB enables consistent,
high performing databases.
Running transparently and efficiently, Lightning
DEDB uses only those system resources required for its operations,
and it allows you to determine the type of cache memory to use for
search operations: Data Space, ECSA, or XPVT. You can also configure
real-time notification settings for SMAP depletion level and depletion
rate.
Lightning DEDB is a complimentary product to Eclipse
iExtend, which automates space management of the independent
overflow of Fast Path DEDB databases. When using the two products
together, reorganizations are essentially reduced to only those
needed for DEDB database structural changes.
